Turning Point

A turning point is when a significant and positive change occurs in an individual, family, organization, or nation. In the Bible, we see many such instances; for example, when God called Abraham to leave his homeland (Genesis 12:1), this marked a turning point for him. Similarly, in Exodus 3, God’s call to Moses from the burning bush was a turning point for the Israelites, who had endured over 400 years of slavery and oppression in Egypt.

The day the woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of Jesus’ garment was a turning point for her health. That day, the physical pains and afflictions she had endured for twelve years came to an end. Her secret tears were wiped away, and her reproach was rolled away. It is God’s will for us to be in good health. Healing is the children’s bread (Matthew 15:26). Healing is our promise, portion, and inheritance in Christ Jesus. The woman with the issue of blood entered into her rest when the power of God flowed from Jesus’ garment into her body. The issue of blood, the sickness God didn’t plant in her that wasn’t giving her rest, was uprooted when she had an encounter with the power of God (Luke 8:44). This month, the power of God will come on us, and there shall be a turning point in our health. Everything God has not planted in our bodies that hasn’t given us rest will be uprooted by the power of God.

Some car accidents are so severe that the car is a write-off. The damage is so extensive that the owner abandons the vehicle. The man in Mark 5:1-5 is an example of someone you could describe as a write-off. His case was so pathetic that he lived in the cemetery and exhibited some strange, abnormal behavior, like cutting himself with stones. You can imagine someone living comfortably among dead bodies. No one could control him, no one could handle his mental issues. Some spiritual, family, health, and psychological problems are beyond human ability, even beyond experts and specialists in that field. The madman of Gadara was in such a situation, but he experienced a turning point in his mental health after encountering Jesus (Matthew 8:28-34). The same will happen in our midst this month, and there will be no one amongst us with a confused, unstable, fear-filled, and fear-driven mind.

worry

No matter how severe the mental, emotional, or psychological crisis you, a family member, or a loved one may be facing, there is good news. Part of Jesus’ redemptive work addresses mental and psychological issues directly. Deuteronomy 28:28 states, “The Lord will afflict you with madness, blindness, and confusion of mind.” This curse for disobedience was not just for the Israelites thousands of years ago; it applies to anyone, including you and me, who tend to ignore and disobey God’s commands and instructions. Thankfully, through His death on the cross, Jesus canceled, annulled, and set aside this mind-related curse from our lives and our ancestry. By His blood, He redeemed us from the curse of mental issues. It is time for us to embrace our divine heritage, where every genetic, environmental, and lifestyle pattern, as well as past trauma and stress-related issues that have affected our minds, lose their control over our thoughts and emotions.

When Jesus ascended to heaven, He did not leave us empty-handed. One of the gifts He left us is peace. As He said, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you” (John 14:27).

Therefore, everything contrary to the peace of God must depart from us. We have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

peace

It is time for us to stop struggling emotionally, being held down by fear, wrestling with past wounds and pains, and living under the weight of negative words spoken about us or even the words we have said about ourselves that have confined our minds and emotions. Our journey to emotional healing and deliverance begins when we come to Jesus and open up to Him about our emotional battles, not when we pretend everything is alright while a serious war is going on in our minds.

We must allow the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, to fill every part of our minds. Today, the peace of God will replace worry, fear, anxiety, sadness, weariness, heaviness, confusion, depression, mental turmoil, and unrest. We are entering into emotional rest because Christ has promised rest for the weary and troubled soul (Matthew 11:28). Christ has redeemed us and set us free from the curse of mental, emotional, and psychological issues (Galatians 3:13).

Not only did Jesus come to redeem us from physical ailments and emotional struggles, but He also died to deliver us from the curse of poverty. It is good for individuals to experience a turning point in their finances, businesses, and professions, like Blind Bartimaeus, who stopped being a beggar after receiving his healing, or Peter, who experienced a miraculous catch of fish. However, it is even more meaningful and impactful to witness a nation experience a turning point in its economy, as Samaria did (2 Kings 7:16-17).

When God intervenes in the economy of a nation, wealth and prosperity are no longer concentrated in the hands of a few individuals; instead, there is growth and progress on a national scale, which brings joy throughout the land (Proverbs 11:10). Beyond our personal desires for financial breakthroughs, we must also seek a complete overhaul of our nation’s economy. The hand of God is not too short, limited, or weak to achieve this if we, as the people of God, genuinely humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our sinful ways (2 Chronicles 7:14). This collective effort can lead to healing for our entire land, an end to famine, restoration of our nation’s economy, and a lasting turnaround for good in every area of our lives.

This month, God will put a new song in our lives, families, and nation. He will turn our mourning into dancing. He will remove every garment of heaviness, stagnation, shame, sickness, poverty, and unfruitfulness from our lives. He will clothe us with boundless joy. His hand will touch and visit every aspect of our lives, making us strong and healthy in spirit, soul, and body.

Etiquette Corner

muddy

In Nigeria, during the rainy season, one of the etiquette concerns should be safe navigation on the roads. Avoid driving through flooded areas and large puddles. Best to slow down totally and move at a snail’s speed.

It’s offensive to splash muddy water on pedestrians or those waiting for buses.
We must endeavour to maintain strict hygiene to prevent the spread of waterborne illnesses.
